The company

Door4 develop and manage websites for a broad portfolio of clients, across multiple sectors, including property, retail, law and technology services.  We are based in Nelson, near Burnley Lancashire, in a modern business centre with excellent motorway, train and bus links.  We are an established agency, having been in the industry for 10 years.
We are proud of our client retention, and maintain this by offering a high level of personal service.  Our solutions are primarily bespoke, from a creative and technical sense, which provides us with a significant advantage in our niche.
We have a significant development plan for the 2010-2011 period, based around our service quality, and new business acquisition, and we seek new team members to help us to achieve our goals.

Role definition

The web developer is responsible for the technical and programming aspects of our client and internal projects.  
The developer will work predominantly internally, but will liaise directly with clients on matters which require specific technical knowledge, both at briefing stage and during project execution.

Key performance indicators (KPI)

•    Effective execution of development projects
•    Projects completed to deadline and within allotted times
•    Effective communication with team

Tasks

•    Developing CMS, e-commerce and customer development components in ASP.NET, Classic ASP (and optionally PHP) using MSSQL databases (and optionally MySQL)
•    Troubleshooting existing website code and performing upgrades
•    Working with project account team to identify new technologies which may improve the business portfolio
•    Setup of websites on Windows (and optionally LAMP) servers
•    Configuration of servers with our third party hosting providers, and internal testing servers
•    Reporting to studio manager and directors (where appropriate) on project progress
•    Monitoring of external and internal servers and performance

Key skills

•    Proven web and database development experience.
•    Sound commercial ASP.NET and ASP development experience
•    AJAX framework, ActionScript and XML skills highly desirable
•    Well developed SQL database experience and skills
•    Optionally  PHP/LAMP experience
•    Ability to produce technical specifications from client requirements
•    Familiarity with Javascript, VBScript
•    User interface skills and ability to design innovative solutions to challenging problems

Hours of work

39.5 hours per week, based at our Nelson office.
Monday-Thursday 9.00am – 5.30pm
Friday 9.00am – 5.00pm
